Kilmarnock and Irvine Valley Free Scran Programme FAQ’s

Q: What is this?

A: You can read our Programme Goals, Why is Serve The People International not a food bank?, and Serve The People International’s Basic Principles. We also have a Resources page.

Q: How can I access food online?

A: You can use our Walkthrough, which includes a video tutorial.

Q: What kind of food can I access?

A: The Programme can offer the staples, a variety of dried goods and tinned/canned goods from budget retailers. By selecting ‘full parcel’ in the shop, you can also access the small amount of fresh food we have available, such as potatoes.

The expansion of the Programme is a key point of interest, if you have any information or requests regarding provision of fresh food please email contact@servethepeople.international or check our Requests page.

Q: Who is eligible for this Programme?

A: Anybody in the area of: Kilmarnock, Hurlford, Galston, Newmilns, Darvel, or Priestland.

Q: How often can I order?

A: There is no hard limit, our parcels are designed to last a week for a single person. If you’re having trouble finding enough food to eat, speak to one of our members, who may be able to refer you to food banks and charities.

Q: Do I have to pay?

A: No, there are no costs or fees. You may tip optionally in cash with your courier, but this is optional. You may also choose to donate online or to purchase a lottery or scratch ticket.

Q: Do I have to be referred?

A: No. Everyone on Earth is entitled to food, and we do not require the approval of any government, business, or charity institution to provide this entitlement.

Q: Do I have to be a member of Serve The People International?

A: No, but we do hope that if you use our Programmes, you will eventually like to help out in running some aspect of that Programme, or helping us out in other ways.

Q: Can I be anonymous?

A: You can use a fake name, but we need correct contact details and an address to deliver to.

If you wish to order as ‘guest’ you can do so, your details will be automatically scrapped (check our privacy policy) along with inactive accounts, after a certain period of time. You can also request your account be deleted, in which case your data will be scrapped on deletion.

Q: Can I donate?

A: You can see our donation options on linktr.ee/stpinternational.

We do not accept donations of food, as we can purchase at cheaper rates than an individual and we seek to maintain consistency in our parcels. We would love to have more help in distributing our parcels and expanding the Programmes, especially if you use our Free Scran Programme yourself. Please contact kiladmin@servethepeople.international. You can read more about our approach to donations here: ‘Charity vs Mutual Aid’.
